Getting Feedback and Boosting Loyalty
Yes, it is possible to do both concurrently. Obviously, it is critical to take any feedback, assign an owner (which might be you), and take corrective action. If customers see that you are acting on their suggestions, it will bond them to your business. However, it goes beyond that.
Many businesses gain feedback through simple surveys. Simple surveys can be enlightening, and leaving a space for comments can shed some of the greatest light on topics. Providing an incentive, such as a discount, can encourage them to fill out the survey and come back soon. So this is one way to do it.
However, there are other ways. Advisory councils, or even discussion groups related to your products or the products you sell, can get traffic to your business. Then, you can glean insights from these discussions. For example, at a book discussion, you might gain greater insight into the books your customers prefer.
As you can see, there are a number of ways to receive useful feedback. It might simply involve asking customers questions, although there are always more innovative techniques. Of course, showing that you are acting on their input is just as important. However, if you do these things, you are likely to create greater loyalty and increased revenue.
